Healing Our Spirits
We must acknowledge our ancestral medicines that continue to guide our wholistic healing journeys as we stand strong to maintain our cultural resiliency against the threat of Covid and the many strains of systemic racism that attack our cultural safety. This session will share the gift of naming ceremonies from the womb to beyond as one of the many traditional healing ways of knowing. Naming Ceremonies are used to weave spiritual, emotional, physical and mental strength to nourish our passion for ancestral knowledge needed for our wholistic well-being. Opolahsomuwehs ‘21

The Truth about Success: Taking Control of the Evaluation Agenda
Limited Capacity seats available

Evaluation has the potential to be a positive force in supporting reconciliation. For far too long, evaluation in Indigenous communities has been an extractive process where community has been strictly the subject or evaluand, rather than the driver of the evaluation. Community context and values have been lost in inauthentic processes where judgements regarding success have been made based on the standards of the dominant culture. This presentation will provide a brief overview of the differences between Euro-Western and Indigenous approaches to evaluation. In addition, a brief overview of potential tools and approaches that can be used to help Indigenous communities control their own evaluation agendas.
